Start your fishing season early for optimal Rainbow Trout or engage in the thrilling Salmon run from mid-August to mid-September. Mabel Lake offers top-notch trout fishing throughout the summer and excellent salmon catches in late summer.

Chinook Salmon season also falls between mid-August and mid-September. Licenses are required and can be purchased online. For deep water fishing, use downriggers along with popular lures to enhance your chances of catching Trout and Kokanee.

Salmon Fishing Hours: Fishing for salmon is allowed during daylight hours only in Region 8

Derby Eligibility: Only salmon caught in Mabel Lake qualify for derby participation

Regulatory Reference: Anglers should consult the Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis by Fisheries and Oceans Canada for current rules applicable to Region 8

Regulation Changes: Be aware that fishing regulations can change without notice 

Proximity Restrictions: Fishing is prohibited within 100 metres of any government-operated fish counting, passing, or rearing facility

Hook Restrictions: Only single barbless hooks are permitted; barbed hooks are not allowed in Mabel Lake 

Licensing Requirements: Anglers over 16 must carry a valid Non-Tidal BC Fishing License with a Conservation Surcharge Stamp to retain salmon. Minors must have proof of age
